Jumper Maybach: Fine Artist & Visionary
A Conversation with Jumper Maybach
About the Artist
About the Artist
As a natural successor to Abstract Expressionism, Jumper Maybach’s paintings embody the incendiary and explosive passion that characterized the truly American movement. Born of the nuances in trauma and healing, Maybach’s works are weighted. The profound expression of both tragedy and redemption is highly resonant, and their sweeping beauty is undeniable. Works such as Can’t Fix Stupid, Jumper’s Hug Constellation, and The Cotton Candy Series represent the spontaneity, the frenetic joy, and the subversive messages swaddled in childlike expression that distinguish Jumper Maybach’s unique style of painting. These qualities link him directly to the great American tradition of spontaneous abstraction, with Art Dubai dubbing him “The 21st Century Jackson Pollock.”
Jumper Maybach’s paintings explore political concepts through the frenetic and organic forms that inhabit his canvases, interrogating social commentary with subversive deftness. At times, the messaging is subdued, a subtle slow burn; while often it is hiding in plain sight, offering a juxtaposition between abstraction and literal meaning that speaks to the duality inherent in his personas.
Born Ben Workman in 1963, the artist who would become Jumper Maybach formed ideas of self-worth through the adversity and trauma of a socially fraught 1960s Corpus Christi childhood. These cornerstones of identity are acutely perceptible through the mixing of raw emotion and the perceived disorganization of color, line, and form that coalesce into a world of explosive instinct. His canvases invite viewers into a place of healing through intuition, playfulness, and childlike wonder—beckoning them toward the better world he envisions.
At the center of this vision is his faith. Jumper Maybach openly affirms himself as a believer in Jesus Christ, and his works are rooted in the conviction that light prevails over darkness. His artistic mission is to dismantle hate, bullying, and intolerance by revealing the beauty of love, peace, and unity. In a world oversaturated with confusion and disunity, his abstractions peel back complexity to reveal the light of truth, reminding us that compassion is both a divine gift and a social necessity.
Every single painting by Maybach holds a message, and his advocacy is at the forefront of those messages. The transformation of pain into joy through the physicality of paint mirrors the spiritual transformation that faith makes possible. Jumper believes that trauma does not define a person but can be transmuted into healing, strength, and testimony—truths deeply resonant with his Christian walk.
Having endured harassment, marginalization, and abuse due to his sexual orientation, Ben Workman found his rebirth in 2010 as Jumper Maybach. Through this metamorphosis, he not only claimed his voice but also committed himself to a higher calling: to live as an instrument of Christ’s love and to use art as a beacon for healing and reconciliation.
His philanthropy reflects this conviction. Maybach has long supported organizations including GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the Matthew Shepard Foundation, AIDS Foundation Houston, The Montrose Center, and The Trevor Project. Yet, since the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, and the subsequent surge of hostility toward Christianity from certain LGBT organizations, Maybach has placed renewed emphasis on accountability. Each year, he personally reviews the organizations he supports to ensure none tolerate or promote hate speech from employees, officers, or board members. Supporting hate—whether against Christians, Jews, Muslims, LGBT persons, or any community—will not be tolerated. Love cannot be selective; true philanthropy must reject hate in every form.
This vigilance strengthens the integrity of his philanthropy while amplifying his lifelong mission: that hatred is conquered not by silence but by bold advocacy for peace, love, and light.
Maybach’s art has been exhibited in prestigious galleries around the globe, from the Venice Biennale and the Louvre in Paris to Dubai, Vienna, Barcelona, and The Netherlands. His works reside in private collections, corporate installations, and museum holdings worldwide. He has been honored as the Official Artist of Pride in Houston, Texas, and Richmond, Virginia, and his acclaimed Pride Series was exhibited in Nashville, Houston, San Diego, and Richmond.
Beyond exhibitions, Jumper Maybach has leveraged his success into a global luxury brand rooted in his artistic ethos. Yet at the heart of his practice remains the same foundational mission: to end hate, bullying, and intolerance and to create a legacy that channels trauma into triumph, darkness into light, and division into healing unity.
Jumper Maybach is the artist living the art—a testimony of faith, resilience, and an unwavering call to love without compromise.
